You can definitely bake oil paint in the oven. Just remeer to keep the temperature at no more than 200F. Anything over that will cause your paint to crack. Even though it may not be fully dried when you take it out, it will start to dry very shortly after.

To use the oven for drying oil paint, allow it to dry in the oven for about 10 minutes. 11/9/2013· I generally run the oven a 200-250F. I set the timer for 3-4 hours and just let it heat up and cool down on its own. I have also found that getting the paint harder helps a lot with the removal of masking. If the paint is not hard, it tends to come off with the masking tape which is really annoying.

After your “ugly messed up” painting is completely dry, create a mixture of half white oil paint and half Galkyd medium or another fast drying medium (liquin, liquin gel, cold wax, cozica). You can also use black oil paint instead of white, if that works better with your process.
